ENGINEERING
Security starts with design decisions.
Permissions, data and dependencies: three conversations to have early.
Map how data moves and who can access it. This helps identify where inputs must be validated and permissions checked.
Grant the minimum necessary access and enforce permissions on the server. Hiding a button does not prevent someone from invoking an operation directly.
Dependencies are part of the system. Keep an inventory, lock reproducible versions and establish an update and review process.
No review guarantees the absence of flaws. Agreeing ownership, verified backups and a response procedure is part of the engineering work.
